" If you were my Husband I would poison your tea ."

Winston paused a bit and puffed on his cigar and replied,

"...and if you were my wife I would drink it ."

Zimbabwe Update [Jul. 18th, 2008|09:58 am]
Zimbabwe is about to run out of money, Literally...

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) on Thursday announced the launch of a new 500-million-dollar bank note for the general public as well as a 50-billion-dollar note for farmers.

In a statement acting RBZ governor Charity Dhliwayo said the 'agro cheques,' which will also be available in 5 billion and 25 billion denominations, 'seeks to bring convenience to our farmers.'

All the new notes, which, like all Zimbabwe banknotes are actually bearer's cheques with an expiry date, will be available from next week.

The 'agro cheques' are set to expire in December when the agricultural selling season ends.
Inflation is now 165,000 %

It takes 50 Billion Zimbabwe dollar to 1 US (crap) Dollar

Until the last star falls from the heavens... [Jul. 17th, 2008|10:12 pm]

Today in 1918 Czar Nicholas II and his family were executed.

The family was told that they would be photographed to prove to the people that they were still alive. The family was arranged appropriately and left alone for several minutes. Soon the very people that were protecting them entered and shot them. At first, the girls did not die because of the jewels sewn into their corsets. These jewels were for protection but also so that the family could have some money for when they fled the country. The shooters were horrified at how the girls were able to withstand the bullets and feared that the family really was in power due to Divine Right[citation needed] (the idea that Kings and Queens are placed on the throne by God). To solve that problem, the shooters tried to stab them with bayonets. That failed, too, because of the jewels, so then, they were shot in the head at close range.Read more... )

Freakin' sweet ! [Jul. 10th, 2008|10:36 am]

We're fans of personal submarines, sure, but anyone with a couple million dollars lying around can get one of those. No, we like stuff more exclusive, more rare, and more resembling marine life. That's why we love the Innespace Seabreacher, a two-seater submersible made to look and move like a dolphin. A follow-up to the company's original one-seat design (called — wouldn't you know it — the Dolphin), the Seabreacher uses the same canopy as an F-22 fighter jet, keeping the roomy interior nice and dry inside a watertight seal.

The best part is how it jumps: Made to move like a dolphin, the vessel uses the downward lift of its wings to jump out of the water, and it can even do barrel rolls.

G8 is talking ...tough ???????? [Jul. 10th, 2008|08:32 am]

"We expressed our grave concern about the situation in Zimbabwe. We deplore the fact that the Zimbabwean authorities pressed ahead with the presidential election despite the absence of appropriate conditions for free and fair voting as a result of their systematic violence, obstruction and intimidation."

Micheal Dukakis rises from the political dead with another stooopid idea [Jul. 9th, 2008|08:07 am]

Get rid of the electoral College !

Sigh'...This is one that no matter how many times I explain it most people still don't get it.

If you get rid of the electoral college Mass. and all other small states will become ghost towns of political and federal economic attention. Those running for president will only campaign in states like California, Texas, Ohio and the like. Small states will have NO voice. Our founding fathers loved all thing check and scales to balance. this was a way of preventing Mob rule and seeing to it that population alone , the greater amount to the smaller did not always rule the day. Wake the fuck up people !!!!

UK court rules that Pringles are NOT crisps ! [Jul. 7th, 2008|09:43 pm]
As my granmother would say ,"that's the English for you"

Pringles, Procter & Gamble Co.'s salty snack stacked in a tube, are not potato chips, a London judge ruled Friday in a tax dispute.

Pringles don't fulfill the legal definition of "potato crisp," the British term for "chip," allowing them to be sold tax-free in Britain, Justice Nicholas Warren at the High Court in London ruled. Pringles Photos: Off the Beat photosUnder the law, most food is exempt from Britain's 17.5% sales tax. Even so, the national tax office claimed that Pringles were covered by an exception for products such as potato chips, sticks or puffs "and similar products made from the potato, or from potato flour, or from potato starch."

Procter & Gamble's lawyers argued at a May hearing that Pringles didn't look like a chip, didn't feel like a chip and didn't taste like a chip, according to the judgment. They also maintain that the snack isn't made like a chip because it is cooked from baked dough, not potato slices.

Potato chips "give a sharply crunchy sensation under the tooth and have to be broken down into jagged pieces when chewed," the Cincinnati-based company's lawyers argued. "It is totally different with a Pringle, indeed a Pringle is designed to melt down on the tongue."Warren agreed. Pringles aren't "made from the potato" for the purposes of the tax exemption, he said. He didn't say what Pringles are, other than that they're tax-exempt.

The British tax office said in an e-mailed statement that it would consider the judgment "with a view to deciding whether to appeal."

In a similar case in April, the British government was told by Europe's highest court, the European Court of Justice, to entirely refund to Marks & Spencer Group more than 20 years of sales duty charged on chocolate-covered tea cakes.

I must say I am excited about the Dark Knight. I see on Fandango.com The film has set a record for advanced ticket sales. Seeing Heath Ledger as the Joker it reminds me very much of the first story to feature the Joker...

Mind you this is a precode (Before the censors went nuts with what they would allow in Comics) so Batman drops people off buildings and sometimes uses a gun.

Adolf Hitler Waxfigure Beheaded

BERLIN (Reuters) - A man tore the head from a controversial waxwork figure of Adolf Hitler on the opening day of Berlin's Madame Tussauds museum Saturday, police said. Just minutes after the museum opened, the 41-year-old German man pushed aside two security men guarding the figure before ripping off the head in protest at the exhibit, a police spokesman said. The police were alerted and arrested the man.
